Cone's Health Foods Moves to New Location
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BakersfieldCACones Health Foods is moving to the Town and CountryVillageShopping Center at 8200 Stockdale Hwy, Suite B-3 in Bakersfield. Cones Health Foods is honored that Mayor Harvey Hall will join us on Monday, January 19th at 2 pm for a ceremonial ribbon-cutting and to say a few words about the newest “old” store in Bakersfield!
The store will open at on January 19th, 2009 in the space vacated by World Records when Pat Evans relocated his business downtown.
Cones Health Foods has been locally owned and operated by the Woken family (currently run by sisters Trulaine Woken and Laurie Woken Manny) since its incorporation in 1979.It was previously owned by Melvin Cone and served Bakersfield since 1967.
Cones Health Foods offers a wide selection of supplements, vitamins, minerals, herbs, foods, teas, cosmetics and other specialty items. It is open seven days a week to provide quality products to KernCounty.
Store manager Trulaine Woken is especially proud of the local and “green” build. Architect John Cohrs of Ordiz Melby designed the space to be consistent with Cones philosophy and mission – to promote positive and sustainable growth in all who enter our doors. Earth friendly building materials were obtained from another locally owned and operated business - Fresh and Green. Local contractor Vance Long (Tenant Improvement Specialties) helped us help the environment in many ways, including the use of low VOC paints and the installation of energy efficient lighting.
The LafayetteVillage location on Wible Rd will remain open through Sunday, January 18th. Customers can look forward to seeing the same familiar faces when they come to the new location – all of the stores current employees will be moving to the new location. While sad to leave the current location where it has served the community for ten years, the sisters have moved the business before- Cones was located in the Valley Plaza Mall in several locations since the mall opened. “Oldtimers” remember the location as in the Mall annex , or refer to the space next to “Jolly Rogers” restaurant.
We look forward to serving our current customers and meeting new ones at our Town and CountryVillageShopping Center location.
